UAE Markets: How ADX and DFM Are Becoming Regional Capital Magnets
Abu Dhabi's ADX and the Dubai Financial Market are now central to GCC capital formation, hosting some of the region's largest IPOs and attracting global institutional flows.
The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and Dubai Financial Market (DFM) have transformed from secondary regional venues into top-tier listing destinations. ADX overtook several emerging-market peers in 2023–2024 in IPO proceeds, helped by the listing of ADNOC subsidiaries — ADNOC Gas, ADNOC Drilling, ADNOC L&S and Borouge — alongside Pure Health and PHX Energy Services.
DFM continues to host blockbuster Dubai government-linked deals: Salik (toll roads), Empower (district cooling), Parkin (parking) and Dubai Taxi all listed in recent years. The combined UAE market capitalisation now sits above US$1 trillion.
Foreign-ownership caps have been progressively relaxed, settlement cycles shortened, and ADGM and DIFC continue to anchor the asset-management ecosystem with hedge funds, family offices and private-credit shops moving headquarters to the Emirates. Index inclusion and sovereign-anchored IPO pipelines should keep flow strong.
